I filed a lawsuit with the Justice of the Peace, but I don't need it anymore. What do I do?

A lawsuit usually ends in one of three ways:

1) Voluntary Dismissal
This occurs when the Plaintiff asks the Court to dismiss the case. For example, if you file an eviction then later no longer need it, the Plaintiff can ask the Court to dismiss the eviction by filing a Motion to Dismiss.
2) Consent Judgment
This occurs when the parties settle a case. Usually, the agreement is written down and filed with the Court for the Judge's signature.
3) Judgment from Trial
This is issued by a Judge once a decision is made at trial.
